The oldest and most legendary of all rallies, starting from the Principality.

A century-old event

First held in 1911, the Monte Carlo Rally is the oldest rally in the world. It traditionally opens the World Rally Championship (WRC) season in late January, on the winding roads of the Nice hinterland and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

A route between asphalt and snow

The event's distinctive feature lies in its changing conditions: special stages can shift from a dry road to a snow-covered pass within a few kilometres, forcing crews into risky tyre choices. This uncertainty is a large part of the rally's spectacle and legend.

Following the event from Monaco

The start and finish are held on the Rock, turning the port and streets of the Principality into an open-air paddock for a week. Many stages are reachable by car from Monaco in under an hour, for those wishing to follow competitors on the ground.

A complementary event to the Grand Prix

Unlike the F1 Grand Prix in June, the Monte Carlo Rally puts far less pressure on Monaco accommodation, while offering a very different kind of motorsport spectacle. It's an ideal time to discover Monaco away from the summer crowds.

Our concierges' advice. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for following certain mountain stages, as access roads can be snow-covered even when Monaco itself stays dry.
